Statutory Public Meeting

Take Notice that the City of Peterborough has initiated the following application and pursuant to Sections 17 and 70.2 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, c.P.13, the City of Peterborough General Committee will hold a Public Meeting in the Council Chambers, City Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Applicant: City of Peterborough 

The City of Peterborough is proposing to update Official Plan policies relating to the Strategic Growth Areas and to enable a city-wide Community Planning Permit System (CPPS). The purpose of the proposed Official Plan Amendment  is to: 1) Enable a city-wide CPPS by defining the guiding principles and providing implementation policies;  2) Update policies guiding the vision and development objectives for the Strategic Growth Areas;  3) Strengthen/Update policies that allow for alternative measures to reduce parking demand, including car-share and cash-in-lieu of parking policies within the Strategic Growth Areas; and 4) Implement Council’s motion from April 28, 2025, to remove building height restrictions and angular plane requirements within the Strategic Growth Areas.

Statutory Public Open House

Take Notice that the City of Peterborough has initiated the following application for an Official Plan Amendment pursuant to Sections 17 and 70.2 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13. The City of Peterborough will hold a Public Open House at the Miskin Law Community Complex, Multi-purpose Rooms A&B at 6:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025. This Public Open House is intended to give members of the public an opportunity to learn about the proposed amendments to the Official Plan and provide input before they are formally considered by the City of Peterborough's General Committee at the formal Public Meeting scheduled for Monday, October 27th, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall. Details related to the October 27, 2025 Public Meeting, including how to register as a delegate will be provided in a separate notice.

Downtown Farmers' Market - Pop-up Event

Time: Drop-in anytime between 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Location: Quaker Foods City Square, 215 Charlotte Street 

Drop by our booth at the Farmer's Market to discuss the city-wide Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) project. Residents and other interested parties are invited to drop-in at any time from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback to the project team. 

Tablets will be available to complete an online survey. Survey participants will have an opportunity to identify which aspects of development are important to them when it comes to managing low-rise and medium-rise residential development within neighbourhoods and high-rise residential and mixed-use development within the Strategic Growth Areas, such as the City’s downtown, Lansdowne Street corridor and Chemong Road corridor.
