As part of the corporate Records Management Program, a review is being conducted to determine how long content within Microsoft Teams (Teams) should remain. If a retention period were applied for specified records in Teams it would mean after a defined period of time some information will be permanently deleted, and therefore not accessible.

The following guideline (initially provided in 2020) is intended to help anyone using Teams better understand the type of content to retain in Teams, Instant Messaging and Video Conferencing Tools - Guidelines. Please take a moment to review the guide.

To determine a suitable retention period for content within Teams for users across the corporation, we seek your assistance. Please take a moment to fill out the survey below and give us your feedback. Once a retention period has been approved for the corporation, the intent would be to apply the retention period to Teams with a sufficient grace period to permit users to review and manage their Teams content before the disposal of any records.
