Morrow Park Improvements
What's Happening
The City of Peterborough is inviting residents to learn about the Morrow Park Ball Diamond Improvements, provide feedback and share ideas on what park amenities they would like to see. The park is located at 171 Lansdowne St. W. in Otonabee Ward 1. The project will bring the diamond to a Premier/Level A diamond and improvements will not only extend the facility's overall lifespan but also enhance local programming opportunities and improve accessibility features.
The Ontario government is investing $1 million to help upgrade Morrow Park. The investment is part of the province's $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) a province wide initiative that helps communities revitalize local facilities, grow the economy and promote active, healthy living across Ontario.
In 2023, the Parks and Outdoor Recreation Facilities Study sought input from the community to create long-term strategies for the provision of selected types of outdoor culture and recreation facilities. Including the Provision Strategy for Ball Diamond Facilities which reported on the nature of current supply and utilization of ball diamonds in the City. Morrow Park is currently a Level B ball diamond as noted in the strategy.
Upgrades to Morrow Park were identified in the strategy and data to support the long-term strategies was gathered through research, surveying user groups, and consultation meetings with stakeholders and community members.
In 2026, the improvements to Morrow Park Ball Diamond includes a new Premier/Level A ball diamond that incorporates a tension netting mesh backstop and screens, new dugouts, outfield and line fencing, batting cages, irrigation, accessible aluminum bleachers with media box, as well as sports field lighting that will provide consistent light levels across the ball diamond. The existing asphalt parking lot will also be rejuvenated.
What we heard
Online Survey
142 people responded to the Morrow Park Ball Diamond Improvements Survey. The survey showed 94 people would drive to the park, 70 would walk/run and 34 would bike. The survey showed a strong support for more tree planting, open lawn and free play area and lighting being high priority items. Respondents were able to provide comments which included the importance of the connection to the Farmer's Market, maintenance of the park and existing war memorials, the need for open accessible greenspace, more trees and shade, as well as the desire for a playground, community gardens and trails. Comments have been summarized and posted on the project webpage. The feedback noted will be reviewed and addressed by the project team through the design process as the project progresses.
Morrow Park survey results summary is available.
Future information about the project and a concept plan will be updated on the Connect Peterborough project page as they come available.
Public Drop-In Session
A public drop-in session was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the Miskin Law Community Complex. Feedback from this meeting will be included in a summary once the online survey closes.
The Presentation Boards from the public consultation represents the vision for the project and identifies the elements provided in the park.
