What's Happening

The City of Peterborough has developed a plan for the neighbourhood park known as Broadway Park, located at 872 Broadway Blvd. in Ward 5. The Concept Plan for the park represents the vision for the project and identifies the elements provided within the park.

In 2021, through a virtual meeting and an online survey, we collected feedback from the neighbourhood to determine the most requested park features. We invited all households that use the park or live nearby to complete an online survey to tell us what features they would like to see in the park and to make suggestions to create an inclusive play environment.

What we heard

According to the City's 2021 survey, the top 5 park amenities in order of ranking were:

  1. Play structure
  2. Shade structure
  3. Accessible seating including benches
  4. Open lawn and free play area
  5. Half-court or full-court sports (i.e. basketball, ball hockey)

In addition to the City's consultation, there was also a Facebook neighbourhood group that completed a poll which had the following results:

  • Shade structure with benches 116 votes
  • Playground 83 votes
  • Basketball court 63 votes
  • Splash Pad 43 votes
  • Outdoor exercise equipment 36 votes

Full details from the survey are available in the Survey Response Report.

This neighbourhood feedback will be used to develop a concept plan for the park that will respond to the unique needs of residents. The City will incorporate the top-ranked elements from both engagement processes, as they can be accommodated within the budget.
