Two Years at The Crossing

November 2025 marked two years since the Bridge Modular Housing Community opened, providing safe, dignified, and supportive housing for people who were chronically unhoused in Peterborough.

As part of this two-year milestone, we are also proud to share that the community has chosen a new name: The Crossing. This name reflects residents’ voices and the purpose of the program: a place of transition, connection, and movement toward stability, home, and hope.

What began as an urgent response to a long-standing encampment has grown into a proven, well-functioning model of supportive modular housing. The site has operated at full capacity since opening, offering 50 individuals a stable place to live while accessing wrap-around supports that promote health, safety, and pathways forward.

Over the past two years, the program has delivered meaningful outcomes for residents and the broader community. Emergency service calls to the site have decreased significantly, residents have experienced improved stability and health, and several individuals have transitioned into longer-term supportive housing. The program demonstrates that transitional housing can be calm, well-managed, and community-building.

We are pleased to share our Two Years of Successes document, created by Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough which highlights key outcomes, data, and reflections from residents, staff, and partners, capturing both the measurable impacts of the program and the human stories behind them.
